A landmark upgrade inside a legacy park, Hurricane Harbor Arlington introduces a new generation of family-focused design to Six Flags.
Hurricane Harbor Arlington is the largest water park in North Texas. Its new Splash Island expansion adds a full-scale kids’ area, giving families a dedicated space to play, relax, and stay together. At the centre is the massive RideHOUSE 600 Pro, featuring over 110 play elements, as well as a large splash pad, and seven slides in a graduated design for a range of ages and confidence levels. It also has shaded lounge areas, and nearby food and restrooms make it easy for families to spend the whole day in one spot.
This project continues a decades-long partnership between Six Flags and ProSlide, with over 200 rides across 21 parks. At Arlington, the challenge was to add something meaningful to an already developed park with limited space. Working closely with the Six Flags team, we transformed an underused area into a high-energy zone for kids and parents. Every design decision prioritized practicality, high capacity, clear sightlines, and a layout that truly supports families.
Splash Island reflects a larger shift in what’s deemed important in water parks. Today’s families want places where they can settle in and stay for a while. This area was designed to meet that need. With a flexible mix of slides, interactive play, and parent-friendly amenities, the concept can easily be adapted for other parks and locations. It also demonstrates what is possible when parks dedicate space and attention to younger guests. For Six Flags, it signals the potential for more family-focused areas across the chain. For ProSlide, it is another example of designing something that works not just in theory but in real life.
