PROSLIDE’S HYDROMAGNETIC TECHNOLOGY CHANGES THE LANDSCAPE

At ProSlide, innovation is woven into the very fabric of our DNA. Since the beginning, which started over 34 years ago, we’ve been relentlessly innovating new technology that has been transforming the water ride industry into one of the leading entertainment sectors around the world. We’ve pioneered attractions like the family-rafting MAMMOTH, the iconic TORNADO, the giant slalom inspired FlyingSAUCER, and many more. There’s been no shortage of groundbreaking ProSlide water rides that influence the best-of-the-best, shaping the industry’s landscape. One ride that has made an indelible impact in water ride history is the world-leading ProSlide Water Coaster. The technological advancements for water coasters only emerged about 15 years ago, when ProSlide introduced its high-performance HydroMAGNETIC innovation.

THE ORIGINS OF HYDROMAGNETIC

In 2006, ProSlide was exploring new designs and technology that would set their water coasters apart from their competitors providing improved performance, rider experience, and repeatability. The goal of creating a propulsion system that drives faster speeds, higher loads and steeper inclines led to the development of the world’s first linear induction motor (LIM) water coaster. A breakthrough for the entire amusement industry, LIM brought a technology that was previously only used in high-speed magnetic trains to water rides. Placing magnets underneath the fiberglass and metal plates inside the boats, sensors detect the vehicles as they approach booster sections and dynamically adjust their power and speed. This application of LIM technology contributes to making ProSlide’s HydroMAGNETIC Water Coasters the most powerful and efficient in the world, while still delivering safety and high-performance thrills. “This is a ride that changed the way people experience water rides,” recalls ProSlide’s Chief Commercial Officer Ray Smegal. “Using LIM technology to create our HydroMAGNETIC Water Coasters created groundbreaking design innovations in the water ride space with its on-demand energization and high force output”, says Smegal. “It laid the groundwork for longer, faster, and more dynamic water coasters, offering a rollercoaster-like experience to water parks around the world.”

ProSlide’s first HydroMAGNETIC ROCKETS opened in 2007 at Great Wolf Lodge Mason, Dreamworld Australia, and Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and were met with immediate success.

WILDEBEEST CHANGES EVERYTHING

In 2009, ProSlide furthered their HydroMAGNETIC innovation by partnering with Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari on a new water ride that would establish a breakthrough benchmark for the industry. Holiday World had established itself as a stalwart ProSlide partner, installing many of ProSlide’s signature attractions including TORNADO, MAMMOTH, BehemothBOWL, and the world’s only 10-lane ProRACER. Holiday World was in the market for a marquee attraction and to fulfill that need, ProSlide designed the world’s longest ProSlide HydroMAGNETIC Rocket Water Coaster, Wildebeest. Installed in 2010, Wildebeest debuted with advanced ride performance, reliability, and ease of operation.  The reception from the industry was overwhelming and garnered Wildebeest the coveted Golden Ticket Award for World’s Best Water Ride. Ten years later, Wildebeest is the most awarded water ride in history with 10 Golden Ticket Awards to its name.

THE MAMMOTH COMES TO HYDROMAGNETIC

With the popularity of the HydroMAGNETIC ROCKET taking the industry by storm, ProSlide sought to bring the experience to its original family raft ride: MAMMOTH. In 2010, ProSlide installed the world’s first HydroMAGNETIC MAMMOTH Water Coasters at Yas Waterworld, United Arab Emirates. The following year, ProSlide partnered with Holiday World again to install the world’s longest HydroMAGNETIC MAMMOTH, which won the prestigious IAAPA IMPACT Award one year later.

Since then, other ProSlide HydroMAGNETIC Water Coasters have anchored water parks all over the world and continued to lead the industry in performance and efficiency. ProSlide Water Coasters like Everland Caribbean Bay’s MEGASTORM (the world’s tallest water coaster) have continued to cement the status of HydroMAGNETIC as powering the world’s best water coasters.

WORLD'S LONGEST MEETS WORLD'S LARGEST

One ProSlide HydroMAGNETIC Water Coaster setting records and shattering guest expectations is Toothless Trickling Torpedo at DreamWorks Water Park in American Dream. The world’s longest indoor water coaster, this HydroMAGNETIC ROCKET is driven by eight powerful booster sections – a first on any ProSlide Water Coaster – that accelerate riders into breathtaking speeds and exciting drops. Given that DreamWorks Water Park is one of North America’s largest indoor water parks, ProSlide designed Toothless Tricking Torpedo to take full advantage of that space. The ride path travels, totally elevated off the ground, around the entire outer circumference of the park – giving guests a thrilling view of the entire water park from every vantage point. The design and ride path is the personification of ProSlide’s purposeful design.
