Season wrap-up

Water Park Wrap-Up checklist

WATER SLIDES

Step 1
Wash and wax the ride to remove all debris and particles that may act as an abrasive on the fiberglass; don’t forget drain holes on the top of closed features. recommendations on products and procedures.
Step 2
Check all ride connections and ride supports. Tighten any loose fasteners for a snug fit. Inspect and repair signs of rust and corrosion on steel supports.
Step 3
Drain all pipes and sprinkler lines to ensure there is no standing water remaining (use anti-freeze for plumbing lines that cannot be drained properly).
Step 4
Cover any water ride start pools, water injection and/or removal points throughout the ride to prevent water infiltration to the pipes. Cover the start of ride opening to prevent snow, debris and ice from building up inside enclosed rides.
Step 5
Avoid snow loads on fiberglass elements and empty any buildup from flumes and the tops of closed features.
Step 6
Review inventory to ensure sufficient spare parts and ride vehicle quantities. For SkyBOX and BLAST rides, please review ride O&M manuals for part information and numbers. Please plan sufficient lead time before the start of next season.
Step 7
Document ride settings, water flows, maintenance items and leak locations for records and off-season repair. Please click here for leak repair and gelcoat repair tutorials.
Step 8
Winterize electronic equipment. Certain large components, such as a SkyBOX for example, should be covered using an opaque water-resistant material to prevent damage to components.

RIDEHOUSE

Step 1
Turn off and drain all water pump systems supplying water to the RideHOUSE. Leave the water ride low-point drainage valve open until the spring. Clear water supply lines with compressed air.
Step 2
Cover or remove features that might collect water, including toys, buckets, troughs, water boxes, etc. Inspect water toys for damage, including chips and scratches, dents, clogged nozzles and stiff or seized bearings. Clean painted metal surfaces.
Step 3
Inspect netting on play structures and verify it’s not frayed and is properly attached to its support structure. Cover netting with a tarpaulin to prevent deterioration from sun, wind and ice build-up.
Step 4
Cover theming elements containing rope or rope stabilizers to protect from deterioration. Check that all permanently attached theming elements are securely attached to their mountings. Remove and store detachable graphic and theming elements.
Step 5
Inspect steps, decks, and roofs to verify they’re in good condition (including grout). Watch for wear on non-slip surfaces and surface damage to fibreglass. Inspect towers and support foundations for cracks, missing concrete, missing or loose fasteners, or any other signs of damage or deterioration.
Step 6
Check base plates for missing or loose fasteners and components. Check the surface of metal components such as supports, columns, tower connections, gussets, bracing, and cross members for rusting or coating failure where painted (which can lead to future rusting).
Step 7
Check piping supports, hangers, side protection, and guardrails for damaged or loose components. Verify that all fasteners are tight. Look for sharp or protruding objects which could injure riders or damage clothing. Check the riding surface for scuffs or voids in the gelcoat.
Step 8
Apply routine waxing and cleaning to the water ride surface.
