We are looking for a Quality Lead to join our Quality Engineering/Manufacturing Operations team! The Quality Lead will be responsible to liaise with suppliers on all aspects of quality, during product fabrication and site commissioning. This position will investigate, analyze and resolve quality issues by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement plans. Travel is required for this role, up to 30%-40%.

You will:

  • Own and author the supplier quality plan, which includes and not limited to vendor fabrication and site commissioning requirements to the project deliverables.
  • Act as a technical liaison between the customer’s project team, fabricators, suppliers and ProSlide engineers, to ensure project quality requirements are understood and achieved, with items being addressed in a timely manner.
  • Support and lead investigations for failure and root cause analysis, on fabrication defects and items identified during site commissioning, with support of various engineering departments.
  • Train supplier quality inspectors on the quality requirements of new product fabrications/introductions, for defects, cosmetics requirements and product critical dimensions.
  • Issue Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and verify that the preventative actions taken address defects identified. Also issues CAR’s for internal issues as they relate to Quality.
  • Conduct Vendor/Manufacturer selection and qualification audits. Review QA/QC documents and procedures including QA Manual, ASTM standards, inspection forms and handling, receiving and internal tracking. Review personnel qualifications to ensure they meet project requirements.
  • Perform Source Inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for Structural Steel, Fibre Reinforced Plastic, and Electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections and prescribes corrective actions to resolve technical issues, either through process improvements or design changes.
  • Track supplier quality performance KPIs through a dashboard for identification to senior management and feedback to supplier during supply chain management QBR(s).
  • Generate reports for internal and supplier reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Engineering Manager to  implement processes to achieve and improve supplier quality.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Engineering Manager and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for supplier manufacturing improvements and process efficiencies.

You have:

  • An Engineering Degree or Engineering Technologist Diploma (Mechanical / Industrial)
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience of supplier quality engineering experience, preferably within construction and/or fabrication
  • Experience with Fiberglass and/or Printed Circuit Board production techniques and applicable quality assurance standards
  • Familiarity with root cause investigation & corrective action implementation methods.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage large complex projects
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, up to Release 2017 ; experience with SolidWorks an asset
  • Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with internal and external customers, suppliers, fabricators and vendors
  • Demonstrated experience working with internal and external stakeholders and different functional groups to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to organize applicable timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and analysis skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced, and professional environment.
  • Ability to travel as required (30%-40%)
