Project Manager

We’re looking for a driven, collaborative and results orientated Project Manager with strong commercial construction experience to join our team.

As the Project Manager, you will provide active management of international projects within established schedules and budgets, typically from the engineering phase through to final inspection and ride testing. Known for your accomplishments as a project manager in the construction industry, and your ability to build credibility with clients, especially when dealing with mission-critical projects, you bring a breadth of skills and experience that drives quality results.

You are an exceptional communicator and will work collaboratively to find ways to deliver high quality results while ensuring each project is completed on time and on budget.

Your Challenge:

  • Manage and oversee multiple projects concurrently, focusing on on-time delivery, maximizing margin through cost control and revenue enhancement and minimizing warranty claims through effective quality control
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients. Responsible for resolving issues, managing client expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for project cash flow management, financial and project reporting and schedule management for on-time delivery/project completion.
  • Responsible for the preparation, analysis, review, approval and management of project execution paperwork to manage and document projects throughout their life cycle.
  • Conduct project risk analysis and develop/implement actions to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure project contract obligations are understood by all stakeholders, requirements are flowed down to sub-contractors and deliverables are achieved by all parties, including commissioning of buildings and equipment.
  • Liaise with various departments (sales, engineering, procurement, logistics, manufacturing, etc.) to complete project paperwork and maintain appropriate project records.
  • Monitor and manage the activities of the Installation Team, Technical Advisors and subcontractors on the project job site to ensure optimum consistency of methods, results, adherence to schedules and achievement within budget limitations.
  • Assist with the timely collection of revenue from clients
  • Timely reporting of project variances from established schedules and budgets.
  • Prepare and present progress reports to PMO Director and Executive Management team. Escalate roadblocks in project schedule/budget
  • Participate in project post mortems/lessons learned in order to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings for future projects.
  • Responsible for health and safety matters and to ensure ProSlide’s Job Safety Program is adhered to in accordance with industry’s best practices.
  • Ensure that business is conducted with the highest standards of quality and integrity
  • Travelling as required to visit project sites, build relationships, and maintain customer relationships.

Location & Travel Requirements:

  • Position Location: Based out of Ottawa
  • ProSlide to cover travel and accommodations
  • Travel Requirements: up to 30%
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and have a valid passport with the ability to travel globally

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10 years’ experience in project management in the civil or commercial construction industry
  • Must have successfully led and delivered large scale projects to time and budget in a pressurized environment
  • Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on project activities is vital
  • Education – Project Management Professional designation or a combination of equivalent experience and education e.g. Advanced Project Management Certificate.
  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Project
  • Ability to fit into an entrepreneurial culture with a roll-up-the-sleeves attitude. A strong bias for action, and someone who is dedicated to delivering outstanding results.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in an effective manner
  • Team player and consensus builder who collaborates with others to achieve common goals.
  • Highly advanced ability to develop and maintain relationships with project stakeholders
  • Exceptional analytical skills and excellent business acumen with the ability to deal with all financials that relate to projects.
  • Innovative and open to new concepts, proactive and solutions orientated.
  • International / cross-cultural experience is a highly valuable asset
