Attention to Detail Junky with an Analytical Side

The Manufacturing Engineering Technologist position is a 1-year contract. The Technologist plays a key role in the ongoing cleanup of historical documentation and technical data packages.

Your Challenge:

  • Maintenance and rework of existing parts, assemblies and drawings to conform to current protocols under the TDP cleanup initiative. This includes identifying gaps in the current TDP and completing 3D scanning, SolidWorks model and drawing updates, to release the updated product documentation.
  • Complete 3D scans of existing tooling or parts at supplier facilities and use scan data to reverse engineer part models.
  • Create or modify SolidWorks part and assembly models.
  • Calculate body and flange areas for parts from SolidWorks geometries.
  • Create AutoCAD blocks (wireline, mesh, and presentation) as required.
  • Create fabrication part drawings for use by our suppliers.
  • Work within existing protocols for file creation and storage (PDM software).
  • Draft Change Notices to release new or modified models, drawings, and blocks.
  • Provide weekly updates to key stakeholders on the project’s progress.
  • Prepare technical specifications for products.
  • On-site verification of parts and tools.
  • Travel within Canada required.



  • Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with a background in 3D CAD modelling and drafting
  • Excellent computer skills in the development of 3D models.
  • Ability to create technical drawings of parts/assemblies, assembly details and associated BOMs.
  • Advanced training and ability inSolidWorks and other CAD programs such as AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Desired Experience

  • Knowledge of fiberglass/composite tooling and production is an asset
  • Experience with composites design is an asset
  • Experience with advanced surface modeling methods is an asset
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, listening, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to set and maintain personal task schedule in a fast-paced and professional environment
