 Manufacturing Engineer – Generalist

ProSlide is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering – Generalist to join our Manufacturing Operations team. This role is responsible as the tactical lead engineering interface between various internal and external parties for the New Product Introduction and Product Lifecycle sustaining of products, parts and features. This includes and not limited to communications with Product Development, Supply Chain Management, Quality Engineering, Product Line Management, Project Management and subcontract manufacturing.


  • Responsible for the qualification of the manufacturing process being introduced, through collaboration with Product Development, Subcontractors and third party labs, for assembly and fabrication of product. This includes capturing the assembly and fabrication process being utilized to produce the given product.
  • Ensure the deliverables – both direct and indirect – of Operations are fully communicated within the organization, as it relates to new and existing projects that support the Product Development stage gate process on New Product Introductions.
  • Contribute to new product designs for the overall manufacturability and cost savings opportunities early in the product development cycle through DFx (Cost, Manufacturing, Test etc) principles.
  • Provide technical support to the Operations organization, for the handling of Nonconforming Material, potential alternatives of manufacturing and part substitutions.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections as part of the New Product Introduction deliverables and source inspection as required per the project contractual requirements.
  • Participate during Factory Acceptance Testing of products at subcontract manufacturers.
  • Review part drawings and BOM(s) as part of an approval of the Change Management process. Including the creation of change request for corrections to the product definition.
  • Support Procurement and Supplier Quality with the introduction and onboarding of new suppliers. This includes initial factory audits and contributions to KPI development.
  • Troubleshooting complex manufacturing process and quality related issues for prompt resolution. Conduct independent root cause analysis into engineering problems to develop new operating best practices, enhanced manufacturing capabilities and supporting business processes.
  • Familiar with various different fabrication processes that relate to steel, fiber reinforced plastic, and injection mold. Also, translation of engineering defined assembly drawings (electrical and mechanical) into shop work instructions controlled by the subcontractor.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technologist in Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a similar role and environment, ideally with exposure to fiber reinforced plastic, steel, injection molding and assembly of electrical sensors/parts.
  • Ability to interpret drawings in SolidWorks and Electrical schematics/wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent understanding of manufacturing principles, change management, planning, procurement and product development stage gate process.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • Knowledge of PLM systems for the management of the overall product lifecycle – from concept to product family obsolesces.
  • Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Strong project management skills in a technical environment.
  • Ability to work independently, often under pressure and against deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound business judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Verbal and written proficiency in English is essential.
  • Travel required for supplier audits and inspections etc.
