WORKING WITH THE WORLD’S BEST.
As our industry grows with larger, more iconic attractions, the regulations need to adapt alongside. We are working with the top global associations to ensure the highest quality standards and long lasting rides.
Andreas Tanzer, ProSlide’s Director of Research & Design has a passion for water slides, having been with ProSlide Technology since its inception in 1986. Over the past 30 years Andreas has worked closely alongside Rick Hunter, ProSlide’s CEO and owner, to ensure a precise balance between safety and excitement.
With his passion for safe ride design, Andreas joined the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) in 2003. He began working with the F24 Committee on Amusement Rides and Devices just as initial efforts were underway to create a new water slide standard. Currently, Andreas is the Task Group Chair for ASTM on water slides, which created and published the ASTM F2376 standard for water slides in 2006, which is now used in North America and accepted internationally.
In 2009, Andreas received the ASTM Standards Development Award for his work as chair of the ASTM Aquatic Play Task Group. In addition, he and his Task Group colleagues received the Kelly Ogle Memorial Safety Award from the World Waterpark Association (WWA) Board of Directors that year for their industry association, work on the Standard Practice for Manufacture, Construction, Operation, and Maintenance of Aquatic Play Equipment (F2461).
Tanzer currently sits as the Secretary of the ASTM F24 Executive Committee as well as the Sub-Committee chair for ASTM F24.70 for all Water Related Amusement Rides and Devices, ensuring that the water leisure industry and its overall safety is well represented and informed.
In October 2015, Andreas was recognized again by the WWA with a second Kelly Ogle Memorial Safety Award for all of his work as a tireless advocate for water ride safety and a main architect of current and upcoming ASTM standards for the water park industry.
Andreas has been a member of AIMS International since 2003 and has participated in several of their annual seminars on safety, training and certification. Andreas has the AIMS “Level 1, Associate Ride Inspector” certification.
In January 2016, Andreas was elected to a three year term on the AIMS Board of Directors. The election was held in Orlando on January 11, during the Annual AIMS Safety Seminar – the organization’s signature safety-training event for the amusement industry.
As outlined in their mission statement, AIMS International is “Dedicated to Continuing Safety in the Amusement Industry”. They also strive to establish communications and foster working relations with other amusement industry trade associations, as well as local, state, and federal government entities; all with the goal of promoting and preserving the prosperity of the amusement industry.
